A Little Hallway Refresh
Sometimes a space doesn't need a renovation. It just needs a little intention.
Our hallway was one of those spaces I had mostly learned to overlook. It wasn't necessarily bad—it just felt a little dated and unfinished. So instead of completely redoing it, I decided to work with what we already had and add a few thoughtful details.
Before
The hallway had good bones, but it was missing some personality. The wood doors, hardwood floors, and brick already brought warmth and character, so I didn't want to cover everything up or make the space feel overly modern.
I wanted it to feel collected, warm, and timeless instead.
After
A little wall molding made the biggest difference. I added simple vertical paneling to the lower half of the wall, then layered in a few things I love: a neutral runner, vintage-inspired artwork, a brass picture light, and a little greenery. None of the changes were particularly dramatic on their own. Together, though, they completely changed the feeling of the hallway. The space feels softer and more intentional now—and, somehow, a lot more like us.
Small Changes, Big Difference
This is probably my favorite kind of home project: working with what you have rather than starting over.
I love a beautiful renovation, but I think there's something special about a home that evolves slowly. Adding layers over time gives a space character and makes it feel lived-in rather than perfectly finished all at once. Sometimes all a forgotten corner needs is a little attention. And in this case, a little molding, a pretty runner, and some brass did the trick.
